Irina Gabiani is a contemporary artist whose work explores interconnectedness, the universe and the human experience. Growing up in Soviet-occupied Georgia and witnessing the 1990s war shaped her artistic path and her vision of humanity as an interconnected organism.
Her multidisciplinary practice spans drawing, painting, video art and installation, inviting audiences into thought-provoking dialogues about the micro and macro worlds. She often transforms images from contemporary magazines by adding hand-drawn lines and extending motifs across multiple figures or surfaces, creating visual chains and cyclical structures.
Gabiani’s work has been shown internationally at institutions including the Venice Biennale, CAPC – Musée d’Art Contemporaine Bordeaux, Mudam Luxembourg, Georgian National Museum, Museo Nazionale del Cinema Torino, ZKM Center for Art and Media, Art Beijing, ARCO Madrid, Art Busan and more.
Her art invites viewers to reflect on the fluid boundaries between the individual and the universe, emphasizing the profound and often invisible connections that shape our understanding of existence.
